Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss

Daimler released today the complete details and image gallery of the Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss that will probably be the star of the show in Detroit in January.

As anticipated, the Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss packs a 478 kW/650 hp supercharged V8 engine under its bonnet that's able to take it from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds. The top speed of the Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss is 350 km/h (217 mph) and imagine this car will take you this fast with no wind screen in front of you.

The Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss price is 750,000 Euros and the company will only build 75 of them. The production of the Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss will begin in June 2009, but the deliveries start date has not been announced yet.

The Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss features what the company calls an AIRBRAKE which can be manually deployed during braking at speeds over 120 km/h (75 mph). The Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss has a carbon fiber body and features closed underbody and a rear diffuser for maximum downforce on the rear axle.

StudioTorino Coupetorino: Mercedes SL coupe

A design created by Studiotorino and IAAD (Istituto d’Arte Applicata e Design) Coupetorino Mercedes SL is a coupe based on the Mercedes-Benz SL roadster. The object of the design was to create a coupe from the roadster, without compromising on the aesthetics of the roadster.

Designed for the 'Turin World Design Capital 2008' event in the "Bespoke Coachwork" class, this 1:4 scale model was created by Alfredo Stola at StudioTorino and Piotr Degler Jablonski at IAAD. The idea was to transform the Mercedes SL into an exclusive coupé with Italian flair.

The car was revealed at the Turin Gallery's premiere, will be on display as part of an exhibit entitled 'Bespoke Coachwork' from December 12 to December 23. To see more of StudioTorino's handiwork, check out the Maserati Cinqueporte concept, or the Porsche Cayman RK.

McLaren F1 Auctioned @ 4 Million USD

At the latest RM Auctions event held on October 29 in London a McLaren F1 sold for no less than 2.530.000 GBP, which is equivalent to more than 4 million USD. The 1997 4 million USD McLaren F1 is powered by a 6.1-litre four overhead camshaft, 48-valve V12 engine that outputs 627bhp and is coupled with a six-speed manual gearbox.

The auctioned 4 million USD McLaren F1 was sold by its first and only owner, had 484 kilometers under its bonnet and was unit number 065. This particular McLaren F1 has a Magnesium Silver paint finish with a black leather interior.

The car is also special because the carbon-fiber transmission tunnel adjacent to the driver’s seat has been signed by Gordon Murray himself.

Mercedes SLR McLaren 722 GT video

The Mercedes SLR McLaren 722 GT was unveiled around one year ago. Powered by a supercharged AMG 5.5 liter V8 engine the Mercedes SLR McLaren 722 GT develops 500 kW/680 ps and 830 Nm of torque.

With a top speed of 315 km/h, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.3 seconds. The car is priced at around 795,000 Euros or about 1.2 million USD.

New Mercedes C230 'Avantgarde' coming soon in India!

Mercedes which is buoyed with the success of new C-class plans to intense the competition with the BMW by launching the Mercedes C-class Avantgarde model. To match the new C-class, BMW facelifted the 3-series and rationalised the prices. Now its Merc’s turn, to compete with 325i top end diesel model of BMW, the benz maker plans to launch much sportier Avantgarde.

The c-class Avantgarde model would come with a 204 bhp engine and a 7speed 7G-tronic auto transmission. Contrary to the existing c-class models, the C-class avantgarde will feature a different grille with centrally positioned Mercedes star.  Together with the sporty, high-quality appointments, this feature emphasises the youthful, agile appearance of this C-Class.



The 200K petrol produces a paltry 178 bhp as compared to BMW 325i's 218 bhp and the upcoming Audi A4 3.2's 250 bhp! Mercedes wants to up the game and is launching the C230 'Avantgarde' soon. The C230 produces 200 bhp from its V6 unit and looks sportier. So, the new C-class, when launched, won’t walk into India an automatic winner. It will have to box it out with the BMW 3-series and Audi.

The new C-class Avantgarde is expected to be priced around Rs35lakhs. Though the price is Rs3lakh  more than the BMW 325i, the AMG sports package might set the sales chart soar.
