Chrysler goes Electric with Dodge EV !

Chrysler CEO Bob Nardelli launched the Dodge Ev along with three other Chrysler group products which have also gone electric (Jeep EV and Chrysler EV). Chrysler LLC is getting into the electric vehicle game and plans to have something on the market by the end of 2010 – the same time GM plans to start selling the 2011 Chevy Volt.

The Dodge EV is a two-passenger, rear-wheel-drive sports car. Although it's powered by an electric motor, the Dodge EV develops 268 hp and a respectable 650 Nm of torque. It has a range between 150 and 200 miles and races to 60 mph in less than five seconds and a 120 mph top speed.

The electric-drive system consists of three primary components: a 200 kW (268 horsepower) electric motor, an advanced lithium-ion battery and an integrated power controller.

Recharging the vehicle is a simple one-step process: plugging into a standard 110-volt household outlet for eight hours.

Chrysler hopes to bring out EVs that have zero emissions and a driving range of at least 250-300km on one full charge.
