Bugatti Veyron 2008

The Bugatti Veryron is, by every measure, the world's fastest production road car. It's the quickest to 60, it has the highest top speed, and it can absolutely dominate a track. Hailed by many as the greatest automobile ever made, it features all the most recent automotive advancements in one package.

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is a mid-engine sports car produced by Volkswagen Group (Volkswagen AG) (VWAG) subsidiary Bugatti Automobiles SAS introduced in 2005. It is the second fastest production car in the world, behind the SSC Aero TT Ultimate.

The exotic two-passenger Bugatti Veyron is powered by a four-turbocharged, 8-liter, 16-cylinder engine that creates 1001 horsepower. A complicated 7-speed transmission and AWD system allows the Veyron to control the 1001hp.

The car can hit 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds, 100 mph in 5.5 seconds, and 150 mph in 9.8 seconds. Getting to 200 mph takes 18.3 seconds, and 250 mph takes 42.3 seconds. A special key is required to "unlock" the Veyron's top speed of 250+ mph. The car is then lowered to just 3.5 inches from the ground!

Other features new to the Gran Sport include a reverse camera with 2.7 inch monitor integrated in the rearview mirror and a “Puccini” sound system, specifically design for convertibles.

Bugatti will hand-build a total of 150 Veyron 16.4 Grand Sports with deliveries scheduled to begin from March 2009. The first 40 cars are reserved exclusively for current Bugatti customers with the exception of the first car that was auctioned off at the Gooding Auction on 17 August 2008 with all profits going to a charitable foundation.

Do you know:
The car was named after Mr. Veyron, who was the first person to test drive a Bugatti.

  2. Volkswagen help to produce this? It's a beautiful car. I like how you added the "Did you know" segment at the end of the post. I might have to use that idea...if you don't mind. ; )
